Site Preparation

We develop a management plan for each plantation. Site preparation, which is carried out prior to the start of the rainy season, includes the construction of employee accommodation, monitoring stations and roads to allow transportation of materials and employees.

Planting and management

The seedlings are planted in the company’s nurseries and once strong enough are transported to the plantation and planted only when the rainy season has finished (between late May and late June).

On average we plant 1,111 trees per hectare at a distance of three meters apart — the ideal density for forest plantations. Thinning will occur two or three times over the rotation period, leaving only the best and strongest trees standing.
